Forklifts
Forklift courses are registered with LANTRA Awards (one of the five bodies listed in the Approved Code of Practice that came into effect on the 1stOctober 1999) with successful candidates receiving a LANTRA certificate and identity card. Courses can range from one to five days depending on the level of experience of the candidate and the qualification required (see pdf for info – lantra ind mast flt and lantra telescopic info).

Pesticides
Use of pesticides is governed by the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 (FEPA), the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COSHH).
The regulations require employers to ensure that pesticides are applied only by employees who have received appropriate training in their safe use. If you are self-employed, the regulations still apply. In certain circumstances employees must also be assessed and acquire a Certificate of Competence (see pdf pesticide learner guide 2008 also pesticide pa1 sheet, vehicle mounted sheet, and knapsack sprayer course). LANTRA training can be provided for each type of sprayer required and an NPTC assessment arranged.
